LA Galaxy rocking Week 8 MLS Power Rankings

“Best form in the league”

MLS: Houston Dynamo at LA Galaxy Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Winners of five straight matches after a thrilling last-minute triumph over the Houston Dynamo, the LA Galaxy have plenty to feel confident about.

As MLS senior writer Matt Doyle correctly notes, the team is a work in progress: Too many aimless crosses and an attack overly deferential to Zlatan have hindered a series of good but not great performances. However Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad have picked up maximum points over the past month and are currently leading the league in points per game. (2.57)

If the midfield can manage to shoulder some of the scoring load (including the snakebitten Romain Alessandrini), the sky is the limit for Ibra and company.

The Galaxy are on the best form in the league right now, so it’s no surprise they’ve moved up just behind their crosstown rivals. This team is not all Zlatan in terms of attack, but they are mostly playing like it right now. Don’t want to break what’s not broken, but at some point the other players will need to chip in.
