The opening 45 minutes went pretty much as you’d expect. LA’s starting eleven were half a step slow to the ball and struggled to combine in the final third, but the ideas were there. Defensively LA set up with a two man block of Jonathan dos Santos and Servando Carassco shielding center backs Diego Polenta and Daniel Steres with the fullbacks pushed up. Deployed as a left back, Jorgen Skljevic aggressively bombed up and down the sideline and combined well with new loan signing Uriel Antuna, who also had a solid showing.

The Galaxy slowly but surely grew into the game, and in the 55th minute a short corner led to a TFC own goal.
Soon afterwards both teams began to empty their benches, and just went it appeared LA would walk away with a victory a Galaxy own goal would even the match.
