LA Galaxy transfer news roundup: All quiet on the Western front

Lots of rumors floating around

News on the Galaxy’s offseason plans has been scarce over the past week or so. Which in and of itself, isn’t a bad thing. General manager Dennis te Kloese prefers to negotiate behind closed doors, omitting to discuss potential deals until negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Verdonk having second thoughts?

“I have the pleasure back” was the defender’s blunt statement when speaking about his future. Originally there was an agreement for the Feyenoord left back to join FC Twente on a six-month loan before another spell in Los Angeles, however the 22-year old has shined at Twente and apparently doubt has crept in.

“My agent is working on it, but the signatures have not yet been made. There will be clarity during the winter break. I decided that (switching to the MLS) at a time when I wasn’t playing at Feyenoord and was unhappy, but now I do play at FC Twente and have the fun back. So in the coming period we will look carefully at what is best for me.”

Nacho Fernandez a non-starter?

For now. The reliable John Rojas relayed quotes from the attacker’s agent, who conceded Guillermo Barros Schelotto has a strong relationship with Fernandez but also confirmed the LA Galaxy have not made official contact.

There have also been reports that Romain Alessandrini is wanted by English clubs and interest in PSG striker Edinson Cavani has cooled, but both bits are just rumors for now.
