Rumor: Dario Benedetto to reunite with Guillermo Barros Schelotto?

Only if LA can jettison two Designated Players

The rumor mill continues to churn out reports of Boca Juniors players following Gulliermo Barros Schelotto to the LA Galaxy, some more believable than others.

The latest news out of Argentina involves Dario “Pipa” Benedetto. On TV program Estudio Fútbol, Leandro Aguilera claimed Boca has agreed to let go of Benedetto for a $5 million transfer fee. (Apparently Pipa has already said his goodbyes and cleaned out his locker with plans of traveling to the U.S. this Saturday)

A mercurial striker, the Argentine international recently came back from a long layoff after suffering an ACL injury to score a number of crucial goals for Boca during their 2018 Copa Libertadores run. (If you recall, Benedetto scored against the Galaxy back in 2014 during their CONCACAF Champions League defeat to Club Tijuana)

Is there any truth to this rumor? I’d call it a long-shot.

Interestingly enough however, the latest rumors involve scenarios where the organization drops two of their Designated Players as opposed to one. Is it possible the club could be shopping both dos Santos brothers?
