Earlier this morning a tweet of LA Galaxy midfielder Joáo Pedro made the rounds on social media, with Athens news agency AMNA reporting the 25-year old had signed with local side Apollom Smyrni of the Greek Superleague.
LA Times reporter Kevin Baxter recently confirmed the news, noting Pedro is on loan and still a member of the Galaxy.

I can now confirm this. This is a loan so technically he still belongs to @LAGalaxy https://t.co/odIDJD5e4S

In 2017 the organization shelled out $1.5 million for Pedro with the hope of securing a long-term No. 8, but after a less than stellar season the likable Portuguese midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements. The former Vitoria product has just 85 first-team minutes in three appearances this year, mostly playing with Los Dos.
Theoretically the move could open up a small amount of cap space, but we won’t know anything for sure until further details are released.
The Galaxy take on local rivals LAFC Friday night in the third installment of El Tráfico.
