LA Galaxy holding strong in Week 22 MLS Power Rankings

MLS: Orlando City SC at Los Angeles Galaxy Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Galaxy have climbed up to 3rd in the Western Conference. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fully fit and scoring goals for fun, Sigi Schmid’s team have tallied 27 goals their past 10 matches and LA haven’t lost in two months.

Last week, the LA Galaxy followed up a dramatic 2-2 come back vs. LAFC in El Trafico with another dramatic 4-3 come back vs. Orlando City. Securing a valuable road point then beating the Lions should warrant a jump in the standings right?

Wrong. LA are still occupying the No. 7 slot in this week’s Power Rankings. Guess you can’t win ‘em all, right?

The Galaxy’s unbeaten streak in MLS is now nine games, and while they seem to be settling into the same “score a lot and let in a lot” blueprint as their Trafico neighbors, it’s working right now. Zlatan Ibrahimovic possibly, maybe making a late Golden Boot chase doesn’t hurt, either.
