LA Galaxy shock LAFC 2-2 in second El Trafico

It happened again!

An early flurry from LAFC should have doomed Sigi Schmid’s side, but the LA Galaxy came back once again in impossible fashion to draw the second edition of El Trafico 2-2 Thursday night at a raucous Banc of California Stadium.

As you might expect, Bob Bradley’s side pressed LA from the opening whistle, and just seven minutes in found the breakthrough. Adama Diomande scampered onto a loose ball at the corner flag and played a quick cross, and the elusive Carlos Vela was the first on arrival to easily re-direct a header past David Bingham.

Lee Nyugen doubled LAFC’s advantage off a free kick, expertly curving a restart outside the box over the Galaxy wall and past Bingham.

The match settled down somewhat until the last twenty minutes or so when all hell broke loose. After Dio clanged a shot off Bingham’s left post before smashing the follow up in off Dave Romney, LA scored twice in five minutes. Zlatan Ibrahimovic won the ball in a dangerous position and fed Romain Alessandrini in the box, who chested down before bundling an off-balance shot with his right foot around Laurent Ciman and keeper Tyler Miller.

Moments later, debut signing Andre Horta played an errant pass to Miller intercepted by Ola Kamara, who rounded Miller before calmly evening the match as the Banc erupted from the heavy contingent of Galaxy supporters.

The hard-luck Horta managed to get free outside the box late but his rocket agonizingly careened off the post. LA Galaxy 2 - LAFC 2.
