LA Galaxy still climbing in Week 20 MLS Power Rankings

All aboard the Chris Pontius hype train

Sigi Schmid’s side are unbeaten in six straight league matches after a galvanized LA Galaxy pulled off a remarkable result, coming from behind to capture a 3-2 road win after Ashley Cole was sent off late in the match. As a result, this week’s Power Rankings have bumped LA up two spots.

Granted, the coaching staff would do well to scrap the game tape and move on. The Galaxy’s performance was lackluster to say the least, albeit with unfavorable circumstances. LA were missing their charismatic target striker, and as we mentioned in our preview last week, the Revs at home are no joke. Fortunately, the squad’s resiliency overrode the team’s quality on the day, and the Galaxy will happily take the three points.

The Galaxy escape the tricky Gillette Stadium test with three points courtesy of Chris Pontius’ late winner. This team may not be fully convincing, but they are six games unbeaten and back above the playoff line, where they’ll surely aim to stay, inconsistent form notwithstanding.
