LA Galaxy improve in Week 19 MLS Power Rankings

Zlatan and Romain gettin’ it done

MLS: Columbus Crew at Los Angeles Galaxy Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Unbeaten in five league matches, a LA Galaxy side starting to find their footing on both sides of the field climbed up this week’s MLS Power Rankings. The 3-5-2 formation Sigi Schmid put out with both dos Santos brothers in the lineup looked dangerous in attack while the defense pitched a clean sheet.

Time will tell if Saturday’s impressive blowout vs. the Crew was an anomaly in an inconsistent season. Speaking of blowing things up, could the Galaxy be looking to offload one of their attacking pieces?

LA left the door open for D.C. United midweek, who duly obliged, but they may have finally exorcised their defensive demons against a game Crew SC outfit. There’s a lot of soccer to be played, but the Galaxy will truly only go as far as their defense takes them.

Atlanta United FC still occupy the No. 1 position while Western Conference foes Portland Timbers and LAFC round out the top spots.
