LA Galaxy at Houston Dynamo match preview: What to watch, predicted starting 11 and TV schedule

Zlatan and company head to Texas in search of an attacking identity

MLS: Los Angeles Galaxy at Houston Dynamo Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

After three consecutive losses at the StubHub Center, the LA Galaxy will look forward to embarking on a mini road-trip, starting this Saturday in Houston as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and company take on the Dynamo. (5:30 PT, Spectrum SportsNet)

What to watch

A strong case can be made Sigi Schmid has not been given a full deck to work with this year. An aggressive offseason training regimen resulted in all three Designated Players suffering hamstring pulls early on, then there’s the matter of signing Zlatan and integrating him into the lineup, etc. The Galaxy simply have not been afforded the time to build a cohesive unit.

That being said, LA’s inability to generate offense in the final third is an enigma that must be unlocked.

The Will Jona Play saga continues: When pressed this morning Sigi declined to commit on the availability of the younger dos Santos, only confirming Jona participated in full training.

What Houston Dynamo team will the Galaxy run up against? Did Wilmer Cabrera’s team punch above their weight during last year’s impressive run? Houston have just two wins in 2018, both of which were home blowouts vs. comically bad sides.

Either way, the back line will have to stick to the dangerous duo of Alberth Elis and Mauro Manotas or it could be a long day for the Galaxy defense.

Predicted starting 11

Lineup 11
