It’s trying times for Sigi Schmid’s squad. Despite snapping a four-game losing streak after escaping French Canada with a road win over the Montreal Impact, the brand of soccer the Galaxy have put on the field has been uninspiring and there continue to be more questions than answers regarding how the club moves forward.
Patience is fraying. Monday’s result could be the stepping stone Sigi needs, but all three points at home vs. a hapless San Jose Earthquakes (7:30, UniMas) is an absolute must.
What to watch
Will Gio play a role on Friday? Who knows.
Sigi Schmid says Giovani dos Santos trained today but is still questionable for #LAvSJ

It should be obvious by now after both dos Santos brothers suffered hamstring pulls early in the season an agreement was reached to limit their exposure to injury prior to the 2018 World Cup.
It’s not an unforgivable offense (Robbie Keane did the same thing after all), but it is what it is.
The Cali Clasico is a must win. Even without the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, LA are up against a Quakes team in disarray. Chris Wondolowski is not a starter at this point in his career, the back four is in shambles and nothing seems to be going right for Mikael Stahre’s men. (Say what you will about LA’s expensive defenders, but at least our high-priced signings make the 18.)
The Galaxy cannot afford to let points slip vs. an easy opponent on home soil. (Frankly, neither can Sigi)
Predicted starting 11
