10-man LA Galaxy narrowly defeat Montreal Impact

A late Ola Kamara strike overcame a first half Zlatan red card

A sluggish LA Galaxy side were not at their best and a Zlatan Ibrahimovic red card didn’t help matters, but a 75th minute Ola Kamara strike was enough for Sigi Schmid’s team to steal all three points vs. the Montreal Impact Monday afternoon at Stade Saputo.

Right back Emrah Kilmenta earned his first regular season start while Giovani dos Santos is still unavailable.

The first half was, to put it delicately, a choppy affair. LA’s first real chance came in the 35th minute when Sebastian Lletget got open on the corner of the 18-yard box and blasted a shot directly at goalkeeper Evan Bush who tipped over the bar.

Soon before the break, a frustrating season for the Galaxy threatened to boil over when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was ejected for slapping Michael Petrasso after the Impact defender stepped on Ibra’s foot mutiple times. However the Galaxy defense held strong after the break against a mostly toothless Montreal attack, and late in the match the hard-working Kamara outmaneuvered two defenders to slip a low shot past Bush and steal all three points.

The Galaxy head back to LA to battle the Quakes Friday in the California Clasico.
