Footie fan culture outlet Copa90 have released their anticipated mini-documentary on the first derby between the LA Galaxy and Los Angeles Football Club. People have been talking about it so I myself was curious to see the end result.
From an outsider’s perspective, it doesn’t make sense. Even locals don’t seem to understand: Why would Angelinos embrace a second team when the first has everything you would ever want?
Honest question for LAFC supporters: How did the team get you to become a fan in a city that already had the most successful MLS team ever and had already been here for over 20 years? This is a question that other "No. 2" teams in Los Angeles have struggled to find an answer to.

The comments tell the story, but there are two schools of thought here: LAFC is one sexy expansion franchise. The crest is fancy, the colors are hip, the stadium is one of the finest soccer venues on the planet and the DTLA location is killer.
On the other hand, the Galaxy have struggled to captivate the LA market outside of the South Bay, and as the host rightly notes, LAFC have taken advantage. Of course if you were to talk to supporters of the original LA club and ask their opinion on the matter, you’re likely to hear tales of soccer hipsters jumping on a bandwagon while ignoring 20 years of the blue white and gold ruling American soccer.
Who’s right?
