Zlatan and the LA Galaxy have been rewarded with the No. 6 slot in this week’s MLS Power Rankings after enjoying a fine run of form.
The results have been haphazard to say the least: A miracle comeback vs. LAFC was followed by a shot-heavy home loss to Sporting Kansas City and a road win in comically bad Chicago weather. However despite a rotating cast of personnel forcing Sigi Schmid to deploy different looks every week, the team has gotten the job done.

The Galaxy take advantage of an out-of-sorts Fire side to get a valuable road win. And sure, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is getting the headlines for scoring the winner, but Ashley Cole’s cross to set it up is about as beautiful an assist as you’re likely to see.
Alicia’s right. (Actually, you could arguably say the same thing about Ibra’s El Trafico game-winner)
Meanwhile the Galaxy only trail SKC for the top Western spot in the rankings while NYCFC Atlanta United and TFC have positions 1-3 locked up for now.
