The Galaxy attempted to put up a fight vs. a red-hot Atlanta United, but the vastly superior home side dismantled LA with little effort, scoring three goals in the first 20 minute en route to a 4-0 blowout Wednesday night at brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

With Rafael Garcia starting at right back, it was predictable the well-prepared coaching staff would target the out of position midfielder, and indeed Yamil Asad ruthlessly pressured Garcia to devastating effect. In the 13rd minute, Asad probed Garcia down the left flank before squaring a simple cross to Josef Martinez for a tap-in.
Three minutes later Asad scored pulling home a rebound, then in the 20th minute completed an early brace with another tap-in as Atlanta’s attack ran circles around LA. The game was already done and dusted, but Jermaine Jones petulantly kicked out at Hector Villalba and earned a straight red in the process.
Moments later Miguel Almiron got free on a breakaway and scooped a shot over Jon Kempin and into the net to pile onto the Galaxy’s misery.
