Will we be seeing Gio’s younger brother in blue white and gold soon? A Spanish media outlet is claiming the Villarreal midfielder is currently in negotiations with the LA Galaxy.
According to El Periodico Mediterraneo, Jonathan dos Santos has not trained with the La Liga club since his participation in the 2017 Confederations Cup, and with the recent signing of Magala midfielder Pablo Fornals, Villareal has decided to grant the El Tri regular a few days to hammer out an agreement with LA. The proposed transfer fee is in the 5-6 million Euro range.
Fans and pundits are divided on the move, with KevIn Baxter of the LA Times confirming negotiations are in an advanced stage while noting the Ibra is deal is probably dead.
.@LAGalaxy currently negotiating with @jona2santos to be their 3rd DP and arguably the best midfielder in @MLS. #MLS

Ithid is Plan B to zlatan. Talks/w JDS are advanced so @Ibra_official deal appears dead. Again. Signing JDS is a big mistake for #LAGalaxy

Partly that (a big part) Also it would leave galaxy locked in w/3 DPs for 2 more seasons. And they already have a ton of midfielders

It’s hard to disagree with Kevin here. While the move could have a lot of upside, it also has the potential to backfire spectacularly. Giving too much power to the Dos Santos brothers while hamstringing the roster for the next few seasons is a lot to consider for Chris Klein and company.
