A reserve Galaxy side did enough to get past Sacramento Republic FC at the StubHub Center track and field stadium Wednesday night in 5th round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action.

Josh Turnley received a start on the left wing, while Jon Kempin featured in goal for the blue, white and gold.
After a listless first half in which neither side seriously threatened on goal, the Galaxy exploded out of the gate with two strikes in three minutes. Ariel Lassiter coolly stepped up and buried a 25-yard free box into the upper right corner to give LA the lead in the 48th minute.

The second goal showed a glimpse of Bradford Jamieson IV’s potential, as the Galaxy Homegrown Player collected the ball on the right flank and sidestepped a midfielder before sprinting down the field, evading more defenders and finally firing a low deflected effort that ricocheted into Sacramento’s net.
