Jack McBean made the most of his opportunity.
Given a start up top by Curt Onalfo, the 22-year-old Homegrown delivered, bagging a stylish brace as the Galaxy steamrolled the Rapids Wednesday night in Colorado.

After a few close calls for Colorado, McBean took advantage of a poor clearance by Axel Sjoberg to expertly kiss a side-footed finish off Tim Howard’s right goalpost and into the net in just the 5th minute.

As you might expect, LA took the pedal off the gas, and predictably Dillon Serna would equalize for the Rapids before the half.
Despite the altitude as well as Romain Alessandrini sitting on the bench, the Galaxy looked comfortable in the second half, putting pressure on Colorado’s defense. Finally, LA broke through in empathic fashion: João Pedro beat a defender 1 on 1 on the box before squaring to a streaking McBean who backheeled around a stunned Howard as the ball trickled past the goal line.

The introduction of former supersub Alan Gordon was a scary proposition for the Galaxy back line, but any hope of a comeback died when LA iced the match in the 71st minute. Now in the match Romain Alessandrini played a tidy ball to Bradford Jamieson IV in the area, the academy product drew a penalty and Alessandrini converted up the middle.
Riiiiiiiiiiight down the middle. #COLvLA pic.twitter.com/PqsufrGksk
