The Galaxy won their U.S. Open Cup match after a long international break on Wednesday night, beating Orange County with ease. Now they return to MLS action and welcome in AJ DeLaGarza’s Houston Dynamo.

With injuries and suspensions this week, expect Curt Onalfo to revert back to the 4-4-2 based on available personnel.

Goalkeeper: Diop

Having been away with the Senegal national team, Clement Diop will return the starting goalkeeper position.

Defense: Cole, Romney, Arellano, Diallo

With Jelle Van Damme suspended for this match against the Houston Dynamo, young Hugo Arellano is the likely choice at center back. He played alongside JVD in the U.S. Open Cup match looked quite sharp.

Midfield: Boateng, Pedro, Garcia, Alessandrini

Since Giovani dos Santos is in Russia for the Confederations Cup with Mexico, we don’t really have a play maker who can sit behind the striker. That’s why we are more than likely going to revert back to the 4-4-2 formation.

Forwards: Zardes, McBean

Everybody knows this, but it bares repeating: Gyasi Zardes is struggling. He simply has not been as confident since returning from his injury. It’s important to have a secondary striker, like Jack McBean, on the pitch who can take some of the pressure off Zardes. If this does happen, who knows, maybe Zardes will start scoring again.
