The newly minted Los Angeles Chargers might not begin play inside the StubHub Center until mid-September, but the promised stadium renovations are beginning to take shape. A new big screen and upper deck seating are among the upgrades.
The Galaxy just posted a time lapse of the new second video board being installed on the south side.

Also, FourFourTwo writer Scott French was at the stadium earlier today and snapped a quick photo of a previously unreported upgrade, the construction of permanent bleachers over the grass berm.

I have mixed feeling about this. The added capacity will certainly make a few extra bucks for the Chargers, but the natural beauty of the grass will be missed and the Galaxy have struggled lately to fill the StubHub Center.
The Galaxy Reddit page also has photos of the new upper deck seating, where a small section of black seats has sprung up. Additionally, expect to see improved club seating, renovated luxury seats and LED ribbons installed in the coming weeks and months.
