Is Landon Donovan running for US Soccer president?

Apparently the LA Galaxy legend is seriously thinking about it

The pressure on Sunil Gulati to avoid seeking a fourth term as head of the US Soccer Federation has grown as many of America’s most influential figures in the game have been encouraged to run for election. Julie Foudy disappointed many when the former USA captain dismissed any chances of campaigning for the position.

But now there is a strong possibility Landon Donovan of LA Galaxy and USMNT fame is considering running for the top job in US Soccer, as Grant Wahl has learned.

Donovan, who had no comment, has been asked by a number of respected figures in American soccer to contemplate running. They’re concerned about Sunil Gulati continuing to control decisions on the technical side—including hiring head coaches—and think Donovan is better qualified to handle the soccer aspects of the job.

If Donovan were to run, it would be a game-changer in the campaign to become the elected leader of U.S. Soccer.

What do you think of the news? Info is obviously scarce at the moment, but this is an exciting development. Hopefully in the coming days we can hear from the man himself
