After the US were dumped out of the 2018 World Cup following a shock 2-1 defeat to Trinidad and Tobago, many of us have binged on articles, podcasts, hot takes, anything we can get our hands on to understand exactly what the f**k happened.
Well Jermaine Jones got into the act, whipping out his phone and delivering a fierce 14-minute rant concerning all things USMNT on Instagram Live, and later sharing the clip on social media. After expressing a desire for Bruce to be replaced with a non-American coach, someone with a “strong name” and “big personality”, Jermaine dives in.
“JJ’s main point is if you want to be a better player you have to challenge yourself & try to play at the highest level. Hard to argue that.”— Hercules Gomez
Despite Jones’ reputation as a hothead, his demeanor was more calm and measured than you might believe. Truthfully, I found his words to be refreshing, and a candid breath of fresh air as we continue to examine how US Soccer should shape its future. Listen to yourself, and let us know what you think.
