The LA Galaxy make their first ever trip to Yankee Stadium when they take on New York City FC on Saturday. Bruce Arena’s side travel to the East Coast for the final long road trip of the season, which includes a game at the Chicago Fire next week.
The Galaxy are unbeaten in their last nine league games and currently sit third in the Western Conference Standings. When it comes to team news, coach Bruce Arena should welcome the return of captain Robbie Keane, who missed last week’s game due to an orbital fracture. The Galaxy, though, will be without starting goalkeeper Brian Rowe after picking up a head injury at the end of the 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids.
Like the Galaxy, NYCFC have several absences of their own. Coach Patrick Vieira and defender Maxime Chanot will be unavailable after being red carded in their 3-3 draw with the Colombus Crew. However, NYCFC will be no walk in the park as they currently sit at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
It is never too early to start thinking about home-field advantage in the playoffs, and a positive result at Yankee Stadium would do the Galaxy wonders in their search for a playoff spot as the team enters the business end of the season.
