According to Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated, it is rumored that current LA Galaxy II head coach, Curt Onalfo, will be named the new head coach of the LA Galaxy.

Last Monday, we even speculated that Onalfo would take over the reigns after Peter Vagenas was promoted to GM.

Curt Onalfo is not an unfamiliar name within the Galaxy organization. When he first joined LA, Onalfo was an assistant between 2011 and 2014. Once the second team got off the ground, however, Onalfo has had a control of the LAGII.

In the three years of existence, Onalfo has taken the young Galaxy squad to the playoffs in each of those years. One of those years, 2015, included a runners-up finish after losing to the Rochester Rhinos.

Worried that Onalfo might not have the credentials to coach a Major League Soccer club? Fear not. In 2001, Onalfo was the interim manager of DC United. Then, he took over the reigns of the Kansas City Wizards between 2007-09 before returning to DC United as the head coach in 2010.

This would be a good fit because he already knows the organization so well, knows some of the first team members from his time as an assistant, and knows the up and coming young players.
