Landon Donovan hints at 2017 return

For the first time, Donovan seriously hints at come back

Landon Donovan revealed a possible clue about his future during a pregame interview with Rob Stone and Alexi Lalas on Decision Day.

The duration of the interview is insightful stuff, but when Lalas pressed Donovan about his plans next year at the minute mark, things got interesting.

“I have enjoyed it a lot. It’s been challenging, its been harder than I thought. I dunno, as an athlete, you think you’re great and you think you can step right in, but it makes you realize how fit all these guys are, how much they practice, how good they are at what they do, so taking a few years off is tough, but I think if it keeps going well and keeps progressing, we can consider next year.”

Landon’s response is a subtle but noticeable shift in tone from his original stance when he returned, when Donovan swore there was no way he was coming back for good. At the time, Landon said he was only pinching in to help the team after Gyasi Zardes was ruled out for the year, and returning was about having a life experience with newborn Talon.

We all went along with the Galaxy legend’s explanation, but after a month or so of memories, the next question for many fans was “Now what?”

Is this the news LA fans have been dying to hear?
