Watch Steven Gerrard score his first LA Galaxy goal

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

You could feel it coming.

After accepting a Sebastian Lletget pass and knifing through the San Jose midfield, Steven Gerrard squared the ball for Juninho then jogged towards the back post as Juninho found Baggio Husidic on the right wing. As Husidic began to cross, Gerrard feinted to the right before drifting far post once more, losing defender Victor Bernandez. The low cross bounced to Gerrard, and he swept the ball into the bottom right corner with aplomb.

It was a fantastic way to open Gerrard's account, as the goal was reminiscent of the former Liverpool legend's style of play: Simple, yet brilliantly executed.

An elated Gerrard celebrated like he'd scored the first goal of his career, sprinting to the corner and sliding on his knees, then rising and attempting to yell in Robbie Keane's ear while being mobbed by his teammates.

"I felt like a kid out there again", said a tired Gerrard afterwards. "I don't want to come off, I want to play as much football as I can".

Welcome to the LA Galaxy, Steven.
