Bruce Arena to meet with Steven Gerrard this week

Galaxy head coach will travel to Merseyside, watch Europa League match vs. Besiktas

According to the Daily Mail, Bruce Arena plans to meet with Liverpool midfielder and future Galaxy player Steven Gerrard this week.

Even though Gerrard signed for the Galaxy last month, Liverpool's busy schedule has prevented him from flying over the pond to visit his new surroundings.

"Ex-USA coach Arena plans to head to Merseyside from the Galaxy's pre-season training camp in Ireland. He is also set to take in the Europa League first-leg tie with Besiktas at Anfield on Thursday"

So what's the purpose of such a visit? Obviously Bruce wants to see where Gerrard is physically, maybe get the ball rolling on ideas. Bruce also has to manage the balancing act of welcoming Gerrard to the club and making him feel comfortable, while acknowledging that he's the boss, and MLS is going to be no picnic.

Besides that, who knows what they'll be discussing. The weather? Golf? Real estate trends?

As a gesture of goodwill, Bruce should present Stevie with an In N' Out gift card, preferably one of those unlimited ones like the Chitople cards Gyasi and Omar were running around with last year.

Then once Gerrard arrives, Bruce can fill Steven in on the tactical side of things, as well as the California delicacy known as "tacos".
