Back in July when LAG Confidential interviewed Landon Donovan, I joked with Landon about possibly making a comeback. This isn't quite that, but Galaxy fans will take anything they can get.
Landon Donovan has been invited to participate in next month's annual UNICEF "Save the Children" charity match at Old Trafford. The LA Galaxy legend will join a star-studded cast of footballing legends including Ronaldinho, Fabio Cannavaro and Luis Figo on a World team managed by Carlo Ancelotti and captained by Zinedine Zidane, while David Beckham leads a Great Britian and Ireland side managed by Sir Alex Ferguson featuring many Manchester United legends.
Here's the lineup for both squads:
Great Britain and Ireland team
Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson
Captain: David Beckham
David Seaman, David James, Sol Campbell, John Terry, Phil Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen, Andy Cole
World team
Manager: Carlo Ancelotti
Captain: Zinedine Zidane
Edwin van der Saar, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Nesta, Luis Figo, Ronaldinho, Patrick Vieira, Michael Ballack, Massimo Ambrosini, Robert Pires, Dwigjht Yorke, Patrick Kluivert, Ole Gunnar Solskjear, Landon Donovan
(Yes Landon was last on the list, but to be fair, it's a pretty exclusive list)
