Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez named to All Star XI

The MLS All Star Game roster is starting to take shape, as MLS announced the fan selected XI during halftime of the Philadelphia Union match against the New York Red Bulls and both Omar Gonzalez and Landon Donovan have been named as participants.

The MLS All Star Game roster is starting to take shape, as MLS announced the fan selected XI during halftime of the Philadelphia Union match against the New York Red Bulls and both Omar Gonzalez and Landon Donovan have been named as participants. The match takes place August 6th in Portland, Oregon where the MLS All-Stars will take on German champions Bayern Munich.

This is Donovan's 14th straight All-Star Game selection dating back to his first year in the league. It's Omar Gonzalez' fourth selection to the ASG.

MLS went with a 3-4-3 formation for this years Starting XI, who are only the first eleven players added and not necessarily the match day starters. That lineup is up to the discretion of the All-Star coach Caleb Porter. The full All-Star Game Fan XI is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Defenders: Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

Forwards: Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls), Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders FC - AT&T/EA SPORTS "More than a Vote" Challenge winner)
