Some afternoon links to get you through to the end of your workday
- First off, it's being reported that the LA Galaxy's match on April 6th against the Montreal Impact has been officially postponed. The April 6th match would have been sandwiched between CONCACAF Champions League appearances on April 3rd and 10th. The match is now scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th. The Galaxy have that previous weekend off, and host San Jose the following Sunday.
- There's an excellent piece in the New York Times on Landon Donovan's sabbatical today. Of note for Galaxy fans in that article is the team will visit with Barack Obama on Tuesday of next week where Donovan will join up with the team for the first time. On Wednesday he's scheduled to have his first workout with the team in Washington D.C. before the team continues on to Toronto for their first road match.
- Over at goal.com there's some Lampard quotes which seem to hint he's seriously considering coming over to America after Chelsea's season is over. There was some scuttlebutt on twitter over the Galaxy possibly having taken out insurance on Lampard, but the follow-up I've done on the story had the insurance company named deny any involvement.
- MLS plays through an international weekend, which means no Omar Gonzalez or Robbie Keane for the Galaxy. However, plenty of other teams are affected, and MLS is a bit caught between a rock and a hard place on the issue. MLS has ben trying to take international weekends off when it can.
