News is coming in that Eddie Johnson will be dealt to DC United for allocation money only. The deal has been approved by MLS, and though negotiations began a month ago the no. 1 pick in the draft never came up.

This shows us the negotiations will all teams involved were for allocation money, which shows how LA were able to be aggressively a part of the proceedings.

Eddie Johnson going to DC United is sort of a best case scenario for LA if they weren't going to land the striker. The Sounders are making a number of deals this offseason so it's hard to know exactly what they'll look like next season, but they won't have Johnson to burn LA on set pieces anymore. Nor will rival Chivas USA, who have been making a fair number of deals on their own.

LA's stated needs are still at the forward and winger positions.
