The LA Galaxy selected today in the MLS Supplemental Draft Andy Riemer, a midfielder from Georgetown. The Galaxy selected him with the sixth overall pick in the draft, which they received along with allocation money from Colorado for Edson Buddle. The Galaxy traded their second round pick to Toronto, then passed on the other rounds.
Riemer is 22 and started all 25 games for the Georgetown Hoyas finishing third on the team in scoring with nine goals as the Hoyas made their first College Cup. He appeared in 82 games in his four years at Georgetown. He's been added to the camp roster below as a non-contract holding player.
Top Drawer Soccer has him listed as a forward, which seems to make sense as he only had one assist in 2012 for Georgetown (link).
Speaking of Edson Buddle, he and Steven Beitashour have left United States national team camp at The Home Depot Center with injuries. Omar Gonzalez and A.J. DeLaGarza continue to train at national team camp as the Galaxy have begun preseason preparations.
