The LA Galaxy are on their way to Puerto Rico. The last time the team played in Estadio Juan Ramon Loubriel down in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, they defeated the Islanders 2-1 but ultimately lost 5-3 in aggregate. The Galaxy did better at home against the Islanders this time around, and as a result the Islanders will be eliminated if they do not defeat the LA Galaxy.
The Islanders are yet to earn a point in CONCACAF Champions League, but they're also yet to play at home. They lost 3-1 at Isidro Metapan and 4-0 at LA Galaxy. Nine points would put a ton of pressure on Isidro Metapan, but if Metapan wins their match at Puerto Rico, the group still comes down to the last matchday.
Five days from now the Islanders will host the Atlanta Silverbacks in their last match of the NASL regular season, but with a playoff spot wrapped up it's unlikely they'll be looking ahead to that match. Likely what the Galaxy are going to get are a team that's not as talented, playing for pride.
The Galaxy, with a +7 goal differential in the group are still the favorites, but it's worth noting that the home team has won every match in the group thus far. LA has to buck that trend, but clearly this club is talented enough to do it.
