How to Watch Vancouver Whitecaps vs. LA Galaxy: Lineups, odds, game thread

Can G’s get another win in Whitecaps’ home away from home?

MLS: LA Galaxy at Vancouver Whitecaps FC Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

Lineups:

Derrick Williams makes his return for LA, and Rayan Raveloson returns to midfield, with Ethan Zubak leading the line again.

Vancouver is running out this XI on the night:

The LA Galaxy have had a little over a week to get ready for their upcoming game, Saturday against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah.

LA last played about 10 days ago, downing FC Dallas 3-1 at home. That game was notable because some of the stars, like top scorer Chicharito, were out, but it didn’t matter as the likes of Rayan Raveloson and Kevin Cabral stepped up in the breach and sealed the win.

Not surprisingly considering they haven’t played in Vancouver this year yet, the Whitecaps have won just twice this season and are on an eight-game winless run. They most recently lost 4-0 to Real Salt Lake at the venue the teams are sharing for the time being. I think the Whitecaps will get a pass for having to play away from home longer than any team in MLS again this season, but that probably masks some of their structural issues with the roster, too.

A slew of Galaxy players — Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos, Efrain Alvarez, Giancarlo Gonzalez and Oniel Fisher — are all on international duty at the Gold Cup at present, and Chicharito’s injury will keep him out at least one more game, while Sega Coulibaly and Daniel Steres are both questionable. On the bright side, Derrick Williams’ suspension is over and he could make his return to the field. The Whitecaps are missing Lucas Cavallini and Maxime Crepeau for the Gold Cup, while Bruno Gaspar (ankle) is out and Caio Alexandre (adductor) is listed as probable on the injury report.

These teams played just a few weeks ago at the same venue with the Galaxy squeaking out 2-1 winners after a furious finish on both ends of the field. Can they grab another result against a reeling opponent? Sure would be nice to keep the momentum going.

Odds:

According to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Friday evening, LA are (+115), Vancouver are (+215) and a draw is at (+280). So the Galaxy are narrow favorites on the road.

How to Watch:

Saturday’s match between LA and Vancouver will be televised locally on Spectrum SportsNet and streamed in the rest of the United States on ESPN+. The TV broadcast is scheduled to start at 7 pm PT with kickoff to follow at 7:08 pm.
