El Trafico is here for 2021, as the LA Galaxy host LAFC for the first meeting between the teams on Saturday.
The Galaxy are coming off a deflating loss to the Seattle Sounders last weekend, but while LAFC haven’t yet lost this season, they’re on fewer points than LA and are coming off what they thought was a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Houston Dynamo. So both teams are coming into the game with a similar mindset and I don’t think the confidence level will be substantially different for these teams.
Sebastian Lletget has completed his two-game suspension and will likely go right back into the starting XI, while Victor Vazquez is listed as questionable. I haven’t gotten a sense yet of what “questionable” means for Greg Vanney’s teams, so perhaps he’ll be back in the XI like nothing’s wrong or maybe he’ll be on the bench or out of the squad altogether. Obviously if Vazquez isn’t playing or is hobbled, you would think that will change the way the Galaxy play, but we’ll see if he’s involved.
Obviously this is a big game and if the Galaxy can get a win here, that will be a statement win in the Vanney era, let me tell you. I think this game can go either way, but it’s a good sign that LA have a legit shot to win and should not be walking in thinking they have an arm tied behind their back. Will El Trafico be the Galaxy’s fixture again? Let’s see how this one goes and it very well could be theirs.
Odds:
According to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Friday evening, LA are (+240), LAFC are (+100) and a draw is at (+275). So the Galaxy are tiny underdogs but it’s pretty close to a push.
How to Watch:
Saturday’s match between LA and LAFC will be televised nationally on Fox and Fox Deportes, which you can watch on FuboTV. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 5 pm PT with kickoff to follow at 5:05 pm.
