LA Galaxy II announced Wednesday they have signed midfielder Victor Valdez to a professional deal for the 2021 season.
The 16-year-old is a Galaxy Academy product and debuted at USL Championship level for Los Dos in 2020, making nine appearances and one start. An attacking midfielder, he looked very lively at times and was a player who caught my eye last season in limited minutes.
“Victor is a talented and creative player that performed well in our Academy,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement. “We are pleased he will continue to grow within our development system. We look forward to his contributions and to his continued development within our club.”
Valdez is from Orange County and joined the Galaxy Academy in 2018. Before that, he was part of Striker FC in Irvine.
All in all, I think this is an exciting move. As I said, I think Valdez was good on the dribble and in passing in the attacking third last year, and if he can continue to develop, he could be a very interesting player indeed for Los Dos in 2021.
