USL announced they will be hosting a new gaming tournament beginning this week, the USL eCup FIFA20, and LA Galaxy II will participate in the competition.
Midfielder and Galaxy academy product Jorge Hernandez (pictured above) will be one of the Los Dos participants in the tournament, which will be a multipart six-week competition.
32 teams in USL are participating in the tourney, and every team was drawn to an international squad to play as for the duration. Galaxy II were drawn to Sweden, a hard-working squad that could catch some of the heavyweights off guard in FIFA play.
This week, teams will participate in a knockout bracket to determine placement for division play. Teams that reach the quarterfinals will qualify for the top level, Division A, the middle teams will go into Division B, while the bottom teams will go to Division C. Over the five weeks of division play, teams will have the opportunity to move up or down the divisions each week, as performance will determine which teams are promoted and which are relegated.
Points are assigned to teams based on their performance, and the team that has the most points at the end of the competition will be the winner of the entire tournament.
You can watch Los Dos kick off play Tuesday at 5:30 pm PT against Las Vegas Lights FC, who are playing as Uruguay. That one sounds like a tough match on paper, but this is the world of FIFA, and they’ll play the matches to determine what happens here.
Where can you watch the tournament? On Twitch. Where can you watch Los Dos’ matches? On the Galaxy’s dedicated Twitch channel.
Best of luck to Los Dos in the tourney and we’ll see how it all unfolds.
