LA Galaxy at Colorado Rapids match preview: What to watch, projected starting XI and TV schedule

MLS: Colorado Rapids at LA Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Back in May the LA Galaxy dropped a close decision at home to the Colorado Rapids, who had just fired an embattled Anthony Hudson and promoted Connor Casey as his replacement. Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad were competing for the top spot in the Western Conference at the time, and the result was especially deflating for those who believed LA dropped easy points to an easy opponent.

Not so fast there, professor. As senior editor Matt Doyle points out, this Rapids team is 9-7-4 since Hudson was let go, including two wins without conceding with Robin Fraser in charge. Wednesday (6 PT, Spectrum SportsNet) is not a trap game, but a test.

What to watch

Who will be available Wednesday? Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano reports Uriel Antuna and Rolf Feltscher will fly to Colorado and should be available. Unfortunately this hints Jona dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget may not play, but depending on how much action the internationals see on Tuesday they could conceivably hop on planes and arrive in time to see the field.

A test, not a trap game. Double-edged sword really. On the one hand the Galaxy have shown up in important matches and stepped up their game recently, conversely LA have struggled to defend in transition and the Rapids thrive on counter-attacking. Which Galaxy team will show up?
