Zlatan Ibrahimovic criticizes MLS regular season as “s**t”

Shortly before the club introduced Cristian Pavón as an LA Galaxy player, the squad answered the media’s questions after training.

A reporter inquired about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s thoughts regarding the regular season, and the big Swede didn’t hesitate to criticize the format.

“I think the system is shit...but, that’s the way it is. Because you talk about mentality, for me mentality is everyday. Training, the way you train is the way to play the game, the results in every game is important. But here, you come 7th place, you make the playoff, you win. So how do you create that mentality to be on your toes 24 hours? It’s very difficult.” - Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ibra may be speaking with his trademark brashness, but Zlatan is hardly the first person to criticize the regular season format for a lack of competitive fight. In the league’s defense, MLS has attempted to rectify the issue by tweaking the playoff format to prioritize teams who finish high up the table.

What do you think of Zlatan’s words?
