LA Galaxy at D.C. United match preview: What to watch, projected starting 11 and TV schedule

Will Pavón make an appearance?

MLS: D.C. United at Los Angeles Galaxy Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday a LA Galaxy team boosted by the signing of Argentina international Cristian Pavón battles a D.C. United squad that will appear strangely familiar to fans of the blue white and gold.

What to watch

Will Pavón take the field? With 28 goals and 32 assists in 108 appearances, many are eager to see LA’s newest loan signing in action, perhaps no one more so than Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

Of course the availability of the winger depends on whether his paperwork clears on time. Former Galaxy striker Ola Kamara, one of United’s latest acquisitions, faces the same dilemma. However there is a good chance Ema Boateng, traded to D.C. for allocation funds earlier in the week, will make an appearance.

Update: Looks like Pavón will be eligible on Sunday.

Zlatan returns from suspension (Again). In recent weeks the big Swede has aired out his grievances, from feeling “hunted” to trashing the regular season format. We suspect Ibra has somewhat of an axe to grind, and knowing Zlatan, expect him to use this as motivation. Let’s see how he performs.

D.C. reeling. Winners of just one in seven, Sunday’s contest comes days after superstar striker Wayne Rooney agreed to lead Derby County as a player/manager at the end of this season. Their new signings should help, but will United show up?
