LA Galaxy Toronto FC match preview: What to watch, projected starting 11 and TV schedule

Fireworks on and off the field

A LA Galaxy club who have gotten mixed results during an extended streak without their best players available are poised to recover when the San Jose Earthquakes come to town next week.

Before the Cali Clasico redux however, there is the annual 4th of July match vs. our friends from up north. (7:30 PT, Spectrum SportsNet)

What to watch

It’s been some time since Galaxy boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto has had the luxury of putting his strongest starting eleven on the pitch. Before Jonathan dos Santos, Uriel Antuna and other key pieces departed for international tournaments, LA briefly marched on without their talismanic striker while Zlatan served a two-game suspension for assaulting goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

For Ibrahimovic (who has just two goals the past six matches), the return of the group will be a welcome relief. In the meantime, Pipa Gonzalez and Rolf Feltscher will likely be back in uniform on Thursday.

Despite LA’s personnel issues, the Galaxy should prevail versus a Toronto FC side who have just one win in six and are missing the likes of Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley and new signing Omar Gonzalez.
