The LA Galaxy have decided to go for it.
This afternoon the LA Galaxy announced plans to construct a standing only section on the north end of Dignity Health Sports Park. Spanning sections 120-123, the new grandstand is just one of a series of renovations scheduled for completion by the start of the 2020 MLS season. In addition to the new section, several bars will be added on the concourse.

“We believe Dignity Health Sports Park is one of the finest soccer-specific stadiums in the United States, and investing in our supporters and their resources is paramount,” Galaxy president Chris Klein said in a statement. “Creating a safe-standing section in our stadium will have a tremendous effect on our players on the field and will continue to give us a home field advantage when playing in front of our supporters. Our supporters are the lifeblood of this club and we are excited to provide them with the necessary seating to support the LA Galaxy.”
Taking a look at the various renderings, you can get an idea of the other improvements in store. The traditionally green seats of the Stadium Formerly Known As The HDC have been replaced by a colorful scheme of gray with different specks of blue and even a few quasars. There is also what appears to be a newly constructed deck centrally in the expensive seats.
What do you think of the changes?
