With the LA Galaxy taking 19 of 21 possible points the last seven matches, Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s group are the hottest team in the league for now. Starting with Saturday’s cross-country battle vs. the New York Red Bulls, a stretch of three games in the next seven games is sure to test LA’s impressive run of form. (And roster depth)

What to watch

Managing Zlatan. Ibra was missing from Wednesday’s training session, but word from the team is the staff are simply managing his legs and the big Swede will be good to go Saturday.

The calendar. The original club from Los Angeles trail their cross-town rivals by a single point in the standings, and there isn’t a single player on the team unaware of that fact. LA will play smart this weekend, but this group will do everything in their power to take all three points.

Is the attacking reinforcement on the way? Multiple reports out of Argentina claim Favio Alvarez of Atlético Tucumán will soon arrive on a six-month loan with an option to buy. Later in the day the Galaxy announced a trade with Minnesota United FC in which both clubs exchanged allocation funds, strongly hinting at an imminent move.
