LA Galaxy holding steady in Week 5 MLS Power Rankings

shrugs

MLS: Portland Timbers at LA Galaxy Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Timbers strolled into Dignity Health Sports Park and put together their best outing of the season, but it wasn’t enough as the LA Galaxy rode a Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace to beat out Portland Sunday night.

Yes the Galaxy still look like a pre season unit at times, but in a matter similar to Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s time at Boca Juniors, the Galaxy boss has brought results despite the team not performing at their peak. Three home matches, three one-goal victories.

As a result, the Power Rankings...wait LA are still in 9th place? Tough crowd. To be fair, there are still a number of unbeaten teams.

Next up, Vancouver.

Major League Soccer

It wasn’t perfect but it was enough for the Galaxy to win again, something Guillermo Barros Schelotto perfected at Boca Juniors. LA have had some wild games in Vancouver, and with Zlatan’s status uncertain, it’s hard to gauge what they’ll look like on Friday.
