Tuesday afternoon’s 2020 MLS Expansion Draft came and went without any real surprises. Of course, it was reported when the LA Galaxy traded Dave Romney to Nashville SC that a gentleman’s agreement meant Nashville would omit Galaxy players from consideration.
In the end both Inter Miami CF and Nashville targeted salary cap friendly players with an emphasis on padding the back lines. LAFC’s Lee Nyugen and Atlanta United’s Brandon Vazquez were the two exceptions.
2020 MLS Expansion Draft selections
Inter Miami CF: Ben Sweat, Alvas Powell, Lee Nyugen, Luis Argudo, Bryan Meredith
Nashville SC: Abu Danladi, Zerek Valentin, Jalil Anibaba, Brandon Vazquez, Jimmy Medranda
Nashville momentarily sent Valentin and 75K in future TAM to the Houston Dynamo in exchange for Joe Willis, while Brandon Vazquez was moved to FC Cincinnati for allocation funds.

Later in the day Sebastian Lletget was an unused substitute as the U.S. Men’s National Team CONCACAFed their way to a resounding 4-0 victory over Cuba in the Cayman Islands. Josh Sargent tallied for the Americans in the first minute and the team never looked back. With the victory the U.S. moves onto next year’s Nations League semis.
