One of the things we stressed following the first ever El Trafico was the pure chaos of the spectacle: If you weren’t there, no number of highlight clips can substitute what unfolded in front of the overflow crowd of 27,068 at the StubHub Center.
The atmosphere was electric. Hours before kickoff, LAFC supporters packed the northwest corner and did an admirable job of establishing a presence. If LA Galaxy fans wished to avoid being out-cheered in their own building, they were going to have to get loud, and fast. They were up to the challenge.
Listen to the stadium howl and hiss 2 minutes in when Ashley Cole knocks Latif Blessing off the ball. Hook it to my veins!

By the time kickoff had arrived, a beehive of crowd noise engulfed the building with both fanbases trying to out-do each other. Then a minor footballing miracle took place: An insanely hyped soccer match lived up to the billing. Seven ridiculous goals, Zlatan’s debut and a miracle comeback later, Major League Soccer had its Hollywood ending.
Now, you need to watch this clip from the Galaxy recapping El Trafico. It’s not the same as being there but its the closest you’ll get.
