The Galaxy’s inconsistent 2018 season continues. LA’s recent road result over the Chicago Fire turned out to be a mirage as Sigi Schmid’s side were second best vs. Atlanta United at the StubHub Center. The MLS Power Rankings showed no mercy, dropping the team four spots this week while Atlanta were rewarded with the top spot for dispatching LA with ease.

The Galaxy haven’t put together any kind of streak yet this year. Coming off a loss, if form holds they’re bound to get a result of some kind against the Red Bulls. But questions about the best lineup and the best defense for this team look like they will persist for some time yet.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s miracle debut is now in the rear-view mirror, and Sigi’s got a number of issues on his hands. In addition to the formation and lineup decisions Alicia mentioned, what does the LA Galaxy boss have to do to motivate two players in Giovani and Jona dos Santos who are clearly mailing it in until the World Cup?
