Good news for Jonathan dos Santos! Days after putting away a deft finish vs. NYCFC at Yankee Stadium, the LA Galaxy midfield engine has been called up by Mexico boss Juan Carlos Osorio for Mexico’s upcoming lineup of domestic friendlies. El Tri will first battle Iceland at Levi’s Stadium up north in Santa Clara before a tricky test in Texas vs. Croatia at AT&T Stadium aka JerryWorld. Across town, LAFC newcomer Carlos Vela received a call up as well.
One step closer to Russia!

The news helps alleviate a tough day for the dos Santos family, as Jona’s brother Gio was left off the roster after suffering a hamstring pull that will keep the older dos Santos temporarily sidelined.
Unfortunately, Jona will not be available for LA’s next match vs. the Whitecaps up in Vancouver, but like Gio, dos Santos should be available for the Galaxy’s monumental clash vs. LAFC on March 31st. (Pro tip: Get your tickets NOW, if you haven’t already)
