MLS Review Show Week 2

Atlanta United sets a new attendance record while Gyasi can’t stop scoring

MLS: D.C. United at Atlanta United FC Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Greetings Galaxy fans! This week’s review show is out, and its a good one.

The action opens up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium where Atlanta United FC put their opening weekend drubbing in Houston behind them, smashing D.C. United and setting a new regular season attendance record of 72,035, eclipsing the previous record of 71,874 at the Benz last year. (Of course, for years the Galaxy held the record with 69,225 fans at the Rose Bowl for LA’s first ever match)

New Portland manager Giovanni Savarese’s return to New York didn’t work out so well. An original member of the MetroStars who scored the team’s first ever goal, the Timbers were blown out by a second-string Red Bull squad.

Gyasi Zardes can’t stop scoring. The former LA Galaxy forward bagged a brace vs. Montreal, converting the game-winning PK for Columbus in stoppage time.

Smiling and full of confidence again, Zardes is thriving under Greg Berhalter while new acquisition Ola Kamara has been a game changer for the Galaxy. It might be too soon to declare, but the Zardes Kamara trade is looking like a success for both teams.
