Social media is quickly becoming the new stomping grounds for streaming live sports. Not only that, the competition is heating up. A year after Facebook agreed to host MLS matches, this morning the league announced a three-year deal with Twitter to stream games, highlights and other features.
Fans nationwide will be able to follow their favorite teams and players via MLS’s Twitter handles, @MLS and @FutbolMLS, and can expect Twitter and MLS to collaborate on innovative executions during the season.
Additionally, beginning this weekend live matches, produced in Miami, will be available in English on Twitter via @UnivisionSports and @MLS.
“MLS constantly strives to connect with fans in new and innovative ways,” said Chris Schlosser, SVP Media, MLS. “Our fans are the youngest and most socially engaged in pro sports, which is why we are excited to partner with Twitter to feature live matches on their platform.”
This is welcome news for LA Galaxy fans, especially those who live on the platform. Below is the four appearances scheduled for this season.
